Hundreds of U2 fans descended on London's West End this evening, to see the band's most intimate live show in over a decade.

Nearly 2,000 fans began queuing at midday, including 500 competition winners through U2.COM.

U2 played a ninety minute soundcheck during the afternoon behind closed doors, fresh from their award-winning appearance at yesterday's NME Carling Awards. Insiders suggested there might be some surprises in the set.

Ticket touts were offering ridiculous prices for tickets from fans outside the venue - but the chance to see U2 in a smalll club after yeras of stadium shows, meant the touts were out of luck. Fans judged that their tickets were priceless.

The band were expected on stage at 9pm, UK time. More on the show on U2.COM later.
